About

Singer-songwriter from Paterson, New Jersey, born June 2, 1965. Sybil signed to Next Plateau Records in the USA (with a licensing deal with Champion in the UK) and began recording in 1986, releasing her debut album Let Yourself Go a year later. Her cover versions of Dionne Warwick's Don't Make Me Over and Walk On By, released in 1989 and 1990 respectively, were crossover hits and helped her second self-titled album became her biggest-selling album in the USA and led to her signing to PWL Records in the UK Her third album, Sybilization was released in the fall of 1990 but went largely unnoticed. In 1993, Sybil achieved her most successful hits in the UK charts with a cover of The Love I Lost and its follow up When I'm Good And Ready. The same year, she released two different albums: Doin' It Now! in North America (more soul/R&B) and Good 'N' Ready in Europe (more dance-pop). In 1997, she terminated her contract with Next Plateau with a greatest hits album and later that year released her last album to date, Still A Thrill, in Europe and Japan only. Afterwards, Sybil kept a low profile but continued to tour and release new house/dance singles aimed at the club market. She now works in the education sector and is currently a program coordinator and coach at Guilford Technical Community College in Greensboro, North Carolina. Cousin of former En Vogue singer Maxine Jones.
