Gabbervault privacy policy and data handling.
Effective date: 25 March 2026. This page explains what personal data Gabbervault collects, how it is used, and how to request changes or removal.
1. Information we collect
When you create an account or sign in with Google OAuth, Gabbervault may collect your name, email address, username, and optionally a profile image. If you use social login, the data returned by the identity provider may also include a provider ID and avatar URL. Passwords are only stored when you use local email/password authentication and are stored as hashed values.
2. How we use your information
Your information is used to authenticate your identity, provide access to account and community features, show your public profile where you have chosen to make it public, and improve the archive experience. Gabbervault does not use this information for advertising or marketing.
3. Sharing of information
Gabbervault does not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal data with third parties except where it is required to operate the authentication flow described above.
4. Data storage and security
Reasonable technical and organizational measures are used to protect stored personal data and reduce the risk of unauthorized access.
5. Third-party services
Google OAuth is used for authentication. Use of that service is also subject to Google’s own privacy policy and terms.
Gabbervault also uses Discogs as a third-party data source for parts of the public music archive. This application uses Discogs’ API but is not affiliated with, sponsored or endorsed by Discogs. ‘Discogs’ is a trademark of Zink Media, LLC.
6. Cookies and analytics
Gabbervault uses a self-hosted Umami installation at analytics.gabbervault.nl to measure pageviews and a limited set of site interactions, such as search usage, vault actions, follows, submissions, and newsletter signups. This analytics setup is owned and operated by Gabbervault and is not shared with Google or ad networks.
Analytics data is used only to understand traffic and improve the archive. It is not used for advertising personalization, cross-site profiling, or resale. The analytics setup is intended to collect minimal usage data and keep control of that data on Gabbervault’s own infrastructure.
7. Your rights
You can request access to the personal data held about you, ask for corrections, request deletion, or withdraw consent. For these requests, contact info@gabbervault.nl.
8. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated from time to time. Any changes will be published on this page with an updated effective date.
